“These are focus mitt drills we do for striking for mma. The older I’ve gotten, I’ve had a lot of injuries on my ankles and my feet, so I’ll do a little bit less kicking. For conditioning I’ll kick the pads, but for fighting I work a lot more boxing now and a lot more wrestling and submission. These are some of the drills that I do for fighting. Also, I have my fighters work this material. These are the drills that they do to sharpen their hands and feet.”

- Erik Paulson (2007)

    Hey Hector,

Sensei Erik will be in Levittown, PA right outside of Philly on 6/14 & 6/15/08. Thats not far from Princeton, NJ. He actually comes out to the east coast more than you think. Check out the seminar page

  4. derrick says:

where can you buy the little heavy bag that is at the CSW center? the one bag that is filled w/ beans.

  5. Bruce Wilkerson says:

that little heavy bag was a gift from Erik’s and my wing chun instructor in Palm Springs, Jack Moramarco. He actually bought that bag and took the stuffing out and put beans in it. Hope that helps!

  6. Derrick says:

    thanks bruce,
i found a 15 lb heavy bag from pro boxing equipment. they are sending me one not filled, I will fill it w/ beans. were there specific beans that erik filled them with and where would be the best place to find them?
    thanks,
    derrick

  7. erik paulson says:

    hi -
just the standard dried red or black dry beans shall be fine…fill it full…hit it… it shall shrink and settle… then fill it again. Please let me know how it works…key, punch the hell out of it and develop your short punching power…it works for punching penetration power!!! Go to the grocery store to find them! punch away!
    Erik

  8. Derrick says:

    thank you sensei erik,
i bought a 15lb unfilled heavy bag from pro boxing, spent 36 dollars on 40lbs of beans and just finished pounding the the living hell out of it for 10 rounds in my backyard (it kicks your butt). thank you sir this going up in my school on monday.
    Derrick

  9. mma says:

I find this blog very interesting, i will be here everyday till now. Greetings

  10. Bruce Wilkerson says:

Derrick, mung beans (found at any asian market) are really good also. The Chinese always use mung beans in their iron palm bags, because mung beans have healing properties. As the beans begin to powderize, the powder will come thru the bag onto your hands. That is especially good for wall bags, and platform bags, if you are into that kind of training.

  11. erik paulson says:

    hello-
I am bleesed to have all the great coaches around me and willing to come in to help me with all aspects of all the different ranges. The biggest goal is that you have the spirit to put it down and all on the line. The Win, Lose, or draw, to sacrifice and that you have al the training paartners to push yoi to your limiits and beyond.
