There is no such thing as drop seoi nage; come on Erik you trained in judo. It is seoi otoshi; FYI.
hmmmmm…it is on wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seoi_nage
and here are the 67 throws in judo
http://judoinfo.com/gokyo.htm
it is number eight in the 1st group
Thank you Derrick-
Ben this was one of Rickson and Kron’s favorite throws and Yori Nakamura dropped to one knee intead of two. Still a drop seo-nagi.
Thanks for the Japanese terminology and let me know what other mistakes I made on these dvds.
Thanks-
Erik
Erik just having fun with you. Derrick show me where your link shows tori dropping to one or both knees to perform seoi nage – doesn’t happen. The first kyo, or you called it group, show seoi nage shoulder throw not shoulder drop. So hmmmmm, I think my study at the Kodokan + my godan and 30 years of judo + Toshiro Daigo’s Kodokan Judo book’s definition ..we can define seoi-otoshi as throwing with the knees dropped and seoi-nage as throwing from a posture where the knees are NOT dropped-pg 24. is a little better than your interpretation of wikipedia and judoinfo. hmmmm Seoi otoshi is in the 1895 gokyo – Habukareta Waza not in the current first 40. Seoi-nage is spelled s-e-o-i n-a-g-e Lesson complete.
actually it is spelled ??????.
sorry the site didn’t recognize literal japanese symbols

Thanks for the post! You obviously have a deep knowledge of Judo. Please feel free to educate us more on the correct spelling and terminoligy if misrepresented! Please post your favorite throwing combos and set-ups.
I want to learn more!
Respect-
Erik
hi there, i just saw your web portal listed on bing, and i would like to tell that you express exceptionally good on your web portal. i am very taken by the way that you write, and the content is good. anyhow, i would also like to know whether you would like to exchange links with my website? i will be more than happy to reciprocate and put your link off in the link exchange area. looking for your reply, thanks and enjoy your day!
Erik- great idea on the online training make it above all others and include your cage wall wrestling skills – no one else is presenting it – also guard bottom striking strategies. Note: on one of your student dvd’s you call a take down from the knees o-soto gari version better described as o-soto gake (prop vs. reap). P.S. thanks for the respect I have a ton four you and your skills. My judo knowledge is from one of my students a brown belt judo expert and historian. PEACE
Ben –
Thanks for your input maybe my terminology is a lil off, but be like nike…and just do it!
Thanks for the advice… my cup is empty!
Erik
I am interested in buying some of these DVDs, but I just want to find out the focus: do they cover no-gi submission wrestling, or do they also cover vale tudo/MMA submisson wrestling with strikes thrown in?
I’m more intereste din the latter. Thanks!
Richard.
Hi Richard,
The main focus of these dvds is the no-gi submission wrestling curriculum. The main points of focus are: Positions, Takedowns, Submissions.
All the best and happy training!
